Oh my aching gums !
I started off last Friday with a trip to the dental office. Supposedly it was for a simple filling and some gum restoration work. I love how they use the word "restoration" rather than slicing and dicing! I left with a filling and several nasty stitches plus 3 different bottles of pain meds.
Fast forward to Saturday where I began the process of looking like a chipmunk. Sunday was worse that Saturday and today things are slowly, and I mean slowly, starting to get better.
No exercise for the next week and only soft foods. I have been having smoothies upon smoothies, scrambled eggs, greek yogurt - I even drank a bowl of cream of wheat through a straw. I will admit, I indulged in some cottage pie my man made for me as I rested on the couch with my new best friend - the ice pack.
Yes, cottage pie has lean ground beef (that oh so good protein which is not as good as chicken but comes in a close second) but it also has red wine and mashed taters. I indulged. It was so soft, rich and creamy I couldn't resist and my mouth was grateful I made the right choice. I am sure my thighs will have other things to say but c'est la vie.
Water consumption has been ok - not great, not good - ok. Lots of green teas have been my liquid of choice since surgery. I have been on target with my vitamins though and have some great but perhaps a bit TMI to share. After 3 months of diligently and without fail applying natural progesterone cream morning and night for the last 2 wks of my cycle I have successfully cleared up some nagging breast cysts. I cannot believe how great that feels after suffering for years with them on and off! Thank you progesterone cream even if I do have to order you off ebay because Canada does not allow it to be sold within our country due to some drug regulation thing...whatever. If you are in the market for a good cream, Emerita is at the top of the list.
If you are a woman struggling with estrogen dominance, PMS, and all that goes with it and are in those mid 30s to early 50s then I highly recommend picking up a copy of Dr. John Lee's book: What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause. It is loaded with essential information to get yourself back on track and balance your hormones naturally. I adore this book and keep it handy all the time.
Another tidbit of info, I stopped wearing underwire bras cold turkey. Tossed each and every one of them. Why? Because all my cysts started right where the underwire would press on the breast tissue. Not good. I ended up switching to the Genie Bra and haven't looked back. You can by similar ones at Walmart called the Aah Bra for under $20 and they work wonderfully.
I read an article a long time ago that talked about the linkages between underwire bras and breast cysts. That info stuck with me for a long time and I am so glad I finally made the decision to toss those underwires once and for all.
Ok enough about all those personal updates, now back to low carbing and protein powder. After trying numerous brands that either tasted gritty and/or had a wicked aftertaste, I have settled on North Coast Natural 100 % Iso-Protein. It has a great taste, low in carbs and fat, blends easily and is a must in all my protein shakes. If you are searching for a decent powder, give this one a try. I am partial to the chocolate flavor. Blended with almond milk and I am in choco dreamland!
I will sign off now and go back to Mr. Ice Pack but before I do, I want to wish you all a super week ahead. Love yourself, treat yourself with kindness and put yourself at the top of your priority list! Your body, mind and spirit will thank you for it.
nice post. Another book I'll need to buy. I've been buying almost every book you've been suggesting so far... :-)
